Many people have been using the term 420 since 1970s, but the exact origin of 420 meaning is still unknown. Some people believe that it was originated in California in the 1970s when a group of teenagers from high school would meet outside the school as a ritual to smoke marijauna at 4:20 p.m. every day. They use 420 as a code for smoking weed and used to call themselves “Waldos” which refers to the wall they used to sit on to smoke pot.
